Coloring ~ Jade Chao A workshop for all grades that will include different levels of difficulty in the coloring pages. Jade Chao will teach different techniques for anyone who wants to learn something new. However, this workshop is there for anyone to have fun and relax. The coloring pages will be made by a Harrisonburg High School student, Lydia King. She is a dancer and visual artist in the Fine Arts Academy.
Finger Painting ~ Izzy Matter Students will be able to use washable, non-toxic paints to create paintings with their fingers.
Friendship Bracelet Making ~ Elaina Jones & Eliza Malcom A hands-on workshop where people get the chance to learn to make their own friendship bracelets. They will be taught the simple fundamental knots for bracelet making with many color options to let creativity shine through. There will be step by step instruction, both as a group and individually. This is to help people grasp the fundamentals of bracelet making, so they can make their own in the future. It's a good place to practice because feedback will be available, but people will be free to leave at any time. Personalized guidance and assistance will be offered throughout and questions are welcome. No prior experience required, and is perfect for anyone looking to learn a new craft. All of the materials will be provided, including various colors of embroidery thread, yarn, and beads
Calligraphy ~ Sequoia Hall This workshop will teach the 4 basic strokes that make up all the letter in calligraphy. The students will practice writing letters, words, and ultimately be able to write their name on a card.
Watercolor ~ Rose Trainum Rose will be teaching a lesson in watercolor. The students will have a chance to learn various watercolor techniques to create texture and detail in their work as well as tips and tricks with color mixing and how to achieve darks and lights with watercolor. They will then have a guided activity to practice and then they will create a small picture of their choice using the techniques learned. This lesson is intended to introduce the students to the basics of watercolor techniques and color mixing so they can begin exploring on their own!
