Currently, we are in the process of editing our Flourish video so that it can be presented and uploaded to YouTube by June 2nd. We are waiting to hear when our stage at Keister Elementary School will be built, but we have high hopes that it could be completed sometime in August. This project has challenged us all, as we never expected a pandemic to affect our capstone. However, we have worked through this confusing and difficult time and produced a work that would not have been created otherwise. All eight of us have contributed into making this capstone project possible. We are all thankful for our mentor, Mr. Snow, and his never ending support.

We are now starting to reach out to possible donors to be able to build the stage. We’ve been given many in kind donations and the last building part that we need is a person to lay bricks. We’ve been very fortunate to have our partners at Sustainable Solutions who have set us up with many local businesses who have donated many materials. We are on track to have the stage built very soon.
We have also been working very hard on the music and dance that we are composing. We still plan to have our performance on May 8th! To kick off our senior year in the Fine Arts Academy, we took a class trip to New York City! On the train, we had meetings to brainstorm for our capstone. We explored the city, visiting Times Square, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, The 9/11 Memorial, Ellen’s Stardust Diner, and more. We took dance classes at Ailey Studios, Steps on Broadway, and Broadway Dance Center. We got to see lots of Broadway shows, including Dear Evan Hansen, Mean Girls, Aladdin, and Come From Away, where we got a backstage tour! Most of all, though, we had the amazing opportunity to bond. The eight of us came away from the trip closer than ever and feeling incredibly inspired to begin working on our Capstone!
