Audition Dynamics ~ Phil Saunders & Sophia Pimentel Yoder An audition intensive that demystifies the audition process by educating young actors about the “business of the business.” It will prepare them to own who they are in the room while also allowing the actor to be truthfully and creatively present in the moment and work from a place of power.
Stage Makeup ~ Michael Strawderman This hands-on lab class will introduce participants to various makeup products & techniques used to create realistic gory makeup effects, including a black and blue eye, and cuts. PLEASE NOTE - for those with sensitive skin: Latex products will be used to create some of the effects.
Improvisation Games ~ Bazil Gibson Sometimes in theatre, an actor has to quickly make something up on the spot. This is called improvisation, or improv! In this fun-filled workshop, Bazil will teach many games based in improv, a highly valued skill for any aspiring actor. The stage can be scary, but if you know how to think on your feet, there's nothing to worry about!
Pantomime ~ Ken Gibson Did you ever want to pretend to do something that you were not actually doing? Or, did you ever want to pretend to interact with an object, but not actually have the object to interact with? No? Me either. Regardless, Ken Gibson will teach a workshop in pantomime, a foundational part of acting. Pantomime is acting without words. So, in this very quiet workshop, Ken will demonstrate techniques to create effective pantomime, while we explore pantomime through games, challenges, scenes, and laughter [silently].
Stage Relationships ~ Bazil Gibson In this connection-based workshop, Bazil will teach students how to advocate for themselves and feel safe in the world of theatre. He will also supervise a variety of exercises meant to strengthen connections between two actors and help them feel comfortable in their scenes together.
